Littlest Angel

God sent me an angel from heaven above
It's filled with complete unconditional love
It watches and follows wherever I go
If I'm happy or sad this little angel does know

My life at this moment seems filled with despair
But this littlest angel is always right there
It lifts up my spirits, gives me a reason to smile
Come sit with me angel, let me hold you awhile

It climbs up on my lap and licks away all my tears
One look in those eyes wipes away all my fears
For in those soft gentle eyes there's something I see
Which speaks to me silently "You always have me"

As those soft gentle kisses bring a smile to my face
And a love in my heart which can't be replaced
It continues to tell me in it's own special way
Of how much it loves me as it begins to say

"At night I will cuddle by your side while you sleep
My life is to love you, this promise I keep
I'll wake you come morning with kisses galore
You'll giggle and laugh and ask me for more

When sadness you feel or life lets you down
I'll do whatever it takes to wipe off your frown
I'll show you some tricks, I'll bring you my toy
Or rest my head in your lap, if this brings you joy

If sickness should keep you in bed for the day
I'll stay right beside you, we don't have to play
And if going for walks is something you do
I'll be your companion, take me with you

I'll try hard to show you my love is so strong
I'll try only to please you, I'll try not to do wrong
If a mistake I should make, then I ask this of you
Remember that angels can make mistakes too

I'll ask not much of you, it's for love that I yearn
Cause love's what God taught me to give in return
It's all unconditional & comes straight from the heart
And my promise I give you till death us do part"

So this is my story, one I wanted to share
Of my littlest angel who's always right there
This littlest angel that I'm so thankful of
Yes this littlest angel of unconditional love

Pawprints on my heart

The first time I laid eyes on you
I knew right from the start
That you were meant for me alone
You put your paw print on my heart.

You taught me unconditional love
You made me laugh and smile
A little clown of angel white
With all your grace and style

Uncanny how you seem to know
All my feelings deep inside
Whether happy, sad or in-between
There's nothing from you I can hide

Intelligence in those deep dark eyes
How could one be so smart
You knew just how to capture me
You put your paw print on my heart

A kiss, a whine, a growl, a bark
A language all your own
I understand your every word
With knowledge I've never known

I know that I am hooked for life
I will let nothing keep us apart
My friend, my pal, my soul mate
You put your paw print on my heart

I Saw an Angel

I saw an angel today, oh what a vision to see.
This beautiful angel sent only to me.
My eyes filled with tears at this glorious sight,
This angel so lovely made my heart feel so light.

I held an angel today, in my hands it did rest
Surely it had to be one of God's best.
So soft, so tender, so fragile it seemed
To hold such an angel was more than I dreamed.

I kissed an angel today, I just couldn't resist
As I looked at this sweetie I felt so much bliss
My heart over poured with a feeling of love
For this sweet little creature sent from Heaven above.

I lost an angel today; I guess God had other plans
This precious little life slipped right through my hands
My heart felt so empty as tears fell from my eyes
I didn't have the chance to say my good byes.

I saw an angel today, one I'll never forget
Those short precious moments I'll never regret
He took something with him on his journey above
A piece of my heart to remember my love.

Those Eyes

Welcome to my little home.
What's that? A dog you say?
Oh no I think you've got it wrong.
A dog? Oh my! No way!

Take a closer look my friend,
I think you'll be surprised.
Do you really think you see a dog,
Inside those loving eyes?

Let me fill you in a bit,
A secret I will share.
There's much love in those gentle eyes
And a heart that truly cares.

Many times life let me down
Many times I've cried.
I found it hard to carry on
No matter how hard I tried.

But then I found a special friend,
Who taught me how to love.
A different kind of love you see,
It came from Heaven above.

This love is unconditional
It has no limits or end.
It fills your heart with happiness,
The true meaning of a word called "friend".

This precious thing you call a dog
Is what I am speaking of.
For inside those gentle tender eyes,
Is a heart just filled with love.

I cried and tears were licked away,
Those kisses brought me joy.
That waggy tail and silly bark
Oh look she brought her toy!

A little clown in soft smooth fur
An angel in disguise.
A friend who loves me faithfully
Now that's what's in those eyes!

So next time you should see a dog,
Look closer my dear friend.
Look deep inside those soulful eyes
For true love that knows no end.

Waggy tails & puppy breath

Waggy tails and puppy breath,
Little barks and cries.
Roly poly balls of fur,
Contented little sighs.

Bouncing, jumping, running free
Tugging on a toy.
Look she's chewing on a bone
And now here comes the boy.

Growling, tugging  playfully
Biting tails and ears.
Time to play a game of chase
Hearts that know no fear.

Once around the living room
Past the table too.
Stop! I see another toy
Looks like mommy's shoe.

Now a game of tug of war
The shoestrings are the best!
All this play is tiring
I think it's time to rest.

Tired eyes and little yawns
There's silence .. not a sound.
Where could they have gotten too?
Guess I'll look around.

Balls of fur curled into one
Can't tell who is who.
Puppies sleeping peacefully
Right next to mommy's shoe.

Our Precious Time

From the first day that our eyes met
I knew you were the one
Who would give me love and special care
Until my time on earth was done.

I tried my best to make you smile
My heart belonged to you
In return you gave me so much love
And a life of comfort too.

We made so many memories
As time went quickly by
And now as I look at your face
I see a tear formed in your eye.

I know this is so hard for you
To have to say good bye
I wish that I could stay right here
And never leave your side.

But God has other plans you see
He's calling me back home
Where happily I'll run again
In His fields of green I'll roam

But I will wait for you my friend
When your time here is done
You'll hear my happy familiar bark
As into your arms I run.

So let me lick away those tears
And try to ease your heart
My life with you was a happy one
But it's time for us to part.

When you think of me as days go by
Try not to shed those tears.
Just remember all the precious times
We shared through all the years.

If I could do my life all over
It's you I'd choose again
So 'til we meet again one day
Remember me .. my friend.

Mommy Smiles Again

Listen Lord … she’s crying again,
This really breaks my heart.
She doesn’t understand … she has no clue
As to why we had to part.

I used to kiss away her tears
On days that she felt sad.
But here I am … she’s all alone
And I just feel so bad.

Listen Lord … she needs me there
She can’t do this alone.
I want to lick away her tears
I want to go back home.

She gave me love … she cared for me
She tended to my needs.
And now she cries … her poor heart breaks
She calls my name and pleads.

Listen Lord … do you not care?
How could you let her down?
Her smiling eyes and cheerful face
Now only wears a frown.

What’s that You say? You’ll let me go?
You’ll let me make her smile?
Oh thank you Lord … I’ll be right back
It will only take awhile.

Hello it’s me … do you feel me near?
I came to say good bye.
I miss you too … I love you so
Please mommy don’t you cry.

We’ll meet again … I promise you
Together we will play.
In a place that has no pain or tears
And with you I will stay.

So let me lick away your tears
Just this one last time.
Then smile for me … for I live on
In your heart my love will shine.

He gave us time to know great love
He gave us time to be
And now He calls me home to Him
Where again I roam pain free.

So mommy dry those so sad eyes
And think of me with smiles.
We shared much love … we were best friends
If only for awhile.

And ‘til that day when we both meet
At the garden’s golden gate
I’ll live inside your loving heart
I promise you I’ll wait.

What’s that I see … is it a smile?
You heard me! Yes! Amen!
Now I must leave … my task is done
My mommy smiles again.

Whelping Time

The time draws near, all things prepared.
Feelings rage inside.
Excitement, fear, worry and joy
You’re in for an emotional ride.

The mom is pacing back and forth
Panting and digging her nest.
The time she chose was not your pick
Looks like there’ll be no rest.

The coffee’s brewed, the phone is near
Vet’s number on speed dial.
Let’s hope the night goes easily
Fingers crossed with a wink and a smile.

Looks like the mom is pushing now
The bubble starts to appear.
A few more pushes and a cry
The puppy’s almost here.

Remove the sac and cut the cord
And clear the fluids too.
Mom cleans the pup, it is a girl
And now for number two.

Mom rests a bit as you stand watch
Waiting for the second round.
The puppy suckles peacefully
Oh what a beautiful sound.

And now it’s time, mom’s pushing hard
This one takes way too long.
Mom’s getting tired, she needs your help.
Let’s pray nothing goes wrong.

Mom looks so scared, this pup is weak.
It now depends on you.
You reach and hold and gently pull
Dear God please guide me through.

Once in your hands your work begins
To keep this pup alive.
You do your best, you give your all
To help this pup survive.

At last you hear those tiny cries,
That sound that brings you joy.
Mom looks at you with much concern
As you hand over her baby boy.

The night was long, two more were born
Mom rests with her litter of four.
The stress, the joy, the tears of both
You swear there’ll be no more.

But once the whelping time is done
And mom and pups are fine
The look of love seen in her eyes
Brings a feeling so divine.

Yes breeding pups can be a joy
When all the work is done.
But never let yourself believe
That it is always fun.

There are those times when things go wrong
When one you cannot save.
It breaks your heart, it brings you pain
You no longer feel so brave.

But when things go right, as most will do
That's when you are surprised
At the love you feel inside your heart
As you look in those puppies eyes.

Within This Heart

Within this heart lies faithfulness.
For you alone I live.
Within this heart lies devotion.
To you alone I give.
Within the heart lies loyalty.
Depend on me my friend.
Within this heart lies a love so deep.
With each breath, each beat, ‘till the end.
